Company description:: Clarenville, NL (May 5, 2004) – Parents can now have some help in raising responsible kids. Because Dr. Michael Rayel, a practicing psychiatrist, recently invented Oikos Game—a board game designed to teach children valuable life’s skills.
Oikos Game: A Personal Development and Emotional Skills Game is a unique game that can help children learn emotional skills such as anger management, assertiveness, communication strategies, and dealing with bullies. Although this game is designed to teach, children also have a lot of fun playing it.
“Children in recent times learn values from TV shows, movies, and video games. Although entertaining, unfortunately they don’t enrich children’s lives,” said Dr. Rayel, author of First Aid to Mental Illness.
Oikos Game has significant advantages compared to other games and teaching tools. Unlike any game, it focuses on developing and improving children’s emotional health. Moreover, the game reinforces positive and appropriate behavior. Good manners, conflict resolution, coping behavior, and spirituality are some of the topics that children can gain from playing this game.
“Children learn a lot just by playing 20 minutes a day. Obviously, positive interaction between parents and children further strengthens, not just learning, but also love and family cohesiveness,” Dr. Rayel adds.
Aside from his interest in positive games, Dr. Rayel is also an author, speaker, and a psychiatrist. Through his book First Aid to Mental Illness, Dr. Rayel advocates for mental health first aid and has pioneered the CARE Approach as practical steps in dealing with the early phase of mental illness.
Dr. Rayel and his wife Gayzelle created Oikos Global, a company that aims to develop educational and innovative games, toys, and softwares. Also, the company focuses on creating products that will improve personal development and emotional skills among children. Oikos Game will be available in July 2004.
